Dr. Hauschka manufacturer WALA Heilmittel has owned and maintained their own certified Biodynamic gardens for over sixty years, and a number of the bontanicals used in Dr. Hauschka Skin Care preparations comes from these very gardens. WALA also founds and supports initiatives in developing parts of the world to encourage Biodynamic farming and economic self-sufficiency. A project in Bulgaria, for example, provides WALA with Biodynamic roses at fair-trade prices allowing farmers to more socially secure and financially independant. In
Africa, WALs helped local women establish sustainable agriculture cooperatives to produce shea butter. Those corporations now provide WALA with all of the certified organic shea butter WALA needs to manufacture its Dr. Hauschka Skin Care products. For more than 40 years Dr.Hauschka Skin Care had led the way in holistic skin care. Dr. Hauschka began developing plant-based remedies. He found that by using the rythems and polarities o Nature he was able to create plant extracts that retained the vital forces of the living plant and remained stable without the use of alcohol or artificial preservatives. This strartling discovery inspired Dr. Hauschka and his collegues to found a holistic pharmaceutical company which the called "WALA" for Hauschka's unique rhythimcal process (warmth, ash, light, ash) and Helimittel, the German word for remedy
